Why Durango is for Foodies
These eateries prove that you just can't find a bad meal in Durango.
In the land of sunshine, good beer and a never-ending list of year-round, outdoor activities, at some point you have to stop and eat, and you won’t find a bad meal in Durango.

One Durango restaurant has set the bar high. Ken and Sue Fusco moved to Durango in 1998, and brought with them a plethora of culinary skills. I still remember the first meal I had at Ken & Sue’s. I got a seafood special that featured the best ahi tuna I have ever eaten. My husband, Ryan, got a pasta dish that he raved about for a year.
While Ken & Sue’s has a beautiful ambiance, folks go here for the food. Make your reservations well in advance as tourists and locals flock here every night.
Steamworks' Rico Burger
Our go-to spot in Durango is Steamworks Brewing Co. Not only does this place serve great beer, they have outstanding food and service.
My husband loves their Rico Burger (ale-braised onion, bleu cheese, buffalo sauce), paired with a chili beer. A server here recommended it a number of years ago and Ryan now orders this pairing at brew pubs across Colorado.

I usually get the salmon burger, but it had disappeared from the menu on our last visit. Maybe this is because they moved this item to the menu of their newest restaurant, El Moro Spirits & Tavern. In April, we visited this restaurant opened by the guys who own Steamworks, and there on the menu I found my salmon sandwich and it was divine.
El Moro has a steampunk ambiance that works well in Durango, a town that seamlessly blends first-rate restaurants and fine art galleries with architectural reminders of the town’s Wild West past. And that laid back western vibe is pervasive in Durango. For example, jeans are acceptable anywhere, even at Ken & Sue’s.
Ham, brie & apple sauce crepe
For a fast, yet delicious food option stop at Michel’s Corner Crepes. The ham, brie & apple sauce crepe is large enough to share as an afternoon snack.
Sweet treats at Jean-Pierre Bakery
Another top-notch eatery is Jean-Pierre Bakery & Wine Bar. I have a friend who stops here for a croissant whenever she’s anywhere near Durango. We liked to go here for the lobster bisque.
