4 Fine Wine Festivals in the Mountain West

Summer is a nice time to enjoy wine, and there are plenty of festivals in the west where vino is celebrated with good food and awards. Without further ado, here’s a list of four fine wine festivals in the wild mountain west.

Sun Valley, Idaho, is a year-round vacation destination. There’s killer skiing in the winter and world-class rafting in the summer. Visitors can enjoy a trail ride with a real cowboy, go fishing, biking, hiking or just relax with the family.

The Sun Valley Wine Auction is the perfect time to visit this spectacular area of central Idaho. The event includes vintner dinners and a gala and concludes with Vine & Dine, a lawn party that features wine, food, music and dancing. At Vine & Dine guests are welcome to kick off their shoes and relax in one of Idaho’s most easygoing towns.

Despite a wild summer rodeo series and lots of big trucks and big hats, Steamboat Springs has a refined side that is on full display during Steamboat Wine Festival. Held each August, the festival has grown into a destination event that includes master winemakers and culinary celebs.

This is a stay-and-play sort of event that invites guests to enjoy a long list of wine-centric activities throughout the five-day festival. There’s everything from hiking outings with mimosa to Wine on the Nine, a Best Ball tournament with a nice wine finish.

The Wenatchee Valley is an agricultural paradise in Eastern Washington that’s a well known apple-growing area. This dynamic region includes desert vistas, Columbia River beaches and the forests of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Washington State is a great place to celebrate wine. The first grapes were planted in Washington in 1825, and by 1920, grapes were growing in many areas of the Evergreen State (source: WashingtonWine.org).
