What to Do This Summer in Breckenridge
An 2017 itinerary for off-season fun in Summit County, Colorado
Start your day in Breckenridge with a quick and delicious breakfast at Mom’s Baking Co. Opened in December 2016, Mom’s has quickly become a favorite spot for locals who love the fresh baked goods, which include many traditional Czech recipes.
On our visit to Mom’s, a charming and cozy bakery cafe, I had the breakfast burrito, which hit the spot. The coffee is good, too.
HIT THE TRAIL ON FOOT

After fueling up on good eats, it’s time to burn some calories in one of Colorado’s most beautiful spots, Summit County.
Whether you want to challenge yourself or take it easy, there are a plethora of diverse trails available around Breckenridge. Easy hiking trails include Indiana Creek, which features two ghost town sites. At 3.3 miles (one way) and with an elevation gain of 541, this is a doable day hike for most folks.

Breckenridge is a prime destination for mountain biking, and whether you bring your bike or rent one in town, you’re guaranteed to have a great time.
GoBreck.com has a page dedicated to mountain biking and trails in the area, but once you arrive in town, stop by any bike shop, like Ridden, to get the lowdown. The staff at Breckenridge’s bikes shops are an excellent source of information on current trail conditions and the locals’ favorite rides.

PARTY LIKE A LOCAL

Breckenridge loves to party, and they look for any excuse to do so. Whether it’s bike week, an art event or Oktoberfest, there’s always something happening in this Colorado mountain town. Spend the morning on the trails and hit a local festival, such as the Breckenridge Wine Classic in the afternoon.

The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance makes history fun during one of their many walking tours. On our last trip to town, we went on the Behind the Swinging Doors Saloon Tour. We’ve been visiting Breckenridge for nearly two decades and were surprised to learn so many new and entertaining stories on this outing.
