For over three decades, the specialized team at PRECISIONCRAFT LOG & TIMBER HOMES has been combining extraordinary design with authentic log and timber construction and has earned a reputation for creating the world’s most distinctive mountain-style homes.

Are design options limited when a homeowner chooses a log or timber frame home?

Every log or timber frame home project is unique because every client is unique, so our award-winning in-house architectural design firm, M.T.N. Design, offers a vast portfolio of conceptual designs for inspiration. Depending on the client’s vision, we can modify one of the conceptual designs in our portfolio, combine elements from multiple floor plans, or custom design a home from top to bottom.

How do you make the home building process easier for your clients in Idaho?

Our signature Design-Fabricate-Build service gives clients who want a mountain-style log or timber frame home the luxury of working with one local company from start to finish. Our fabrication facility is in Idaho, and our seasoned team of in-house sales, design, and construction management professionals work together to ensure a seamless approach to helping each client create their dream home.

Do your homes offer any eco-friendly features?

Energy efficiency is contemplated from the foundation to the roof of every PrecisionCraft home. Our homes have an integrated structural shell that includes insulated concrete forms (ICFs), structural insulated panels (SIPs), and custom-fabricated log and timber materials. When this family of integrated products are used together, the result is an energy-efficient home that is as beautiful as it is comfortable.

With a passion for original design, skill, and imagination that runs deeper than trends, the team at DE REUS ARCHITECTS uses core architectural and design principles to create exceptional solutions for inspired living.

How do your designs incorporate the concept of “quiet luxury”?

The typical mountain home in our region is generally formulaic and somewhat trendy: monumental stone walls, heavy timber framing, cathedral ceilings, walls of glass, ornate detailing, etc. Our work is decidedly more bespoke and shaped around the distinct character of our clients and the conditions important to them.

The designs are crafted and shaped to experience the land, the harmonious compositions and layering of architectural elements, and the beauty of natural materials. These are nested qualities that we refer to as “quiet luxury”, which we believe to have meaningful and timeless authenticity.

Describe your unique niche in the market.

Our clients aren’t drawn to us simply because of the quality of the house that will be their home: they also enjoy the process of making architecture. We make a point to invite them into the work and participate deeply in shaping their house. They know the nature of our practice is to produce homes that are each clearly unique.

Clients appreciate that we come into each project with an open mind and without preconceptions or personal agendas. That mindset is the foundation of our practice, and it has resulted in a history of homes that are profoundly personal expressions of our clients.

Meet Scott Turlington, president of TAMARACK RESORT—an all-season destination offering luxury accommodations and a full range of outdoor recreational opportunities in the Idaho mountains— and hear why more and more people are looking to call Tamarack home.

What makes Tamarack Resort a unique year-round destination?

Tamarack offers a trifecta of mountain, meadow, and lake experiences in one glorious location. In wintertime, you can ski and snowboard, explore pristine snowshoe trails, or try your luck at ice fishing. In the summer, you can play a round of golf at our championship course, hike and mountain bike across 2,100 acres of trails, or visit our waterfront for kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating on beautiful Lake Cascade.

What makes the Tamarack community so special?

Tamarack is considered by many to be Idaho’s best- kept secret, with most loyal enthusiasts and Tamarack residents (aka our “TamFam”) often imploring first- time guests to “keep it to themselves”. We are a kind, welcoming, authentic community, complete with a neighborhood school, fire station, market, and restaurants, that truly embraces all-inclusive living.

We hear that the abundance of year-round amenities and activities are what convince frequent visitors to become residents. Tell us more.

Tamarack Resort offers a broad spectrum of opportunities to invest at various price points, ranging from studios to custom estates. Choose from a ski-in/ski-out condo in The Village at Tamarack, a maintenance-free townhouse, cottage, chalet, or villa, a custom estate, or a buildable lot along the fairway to design and build your own dream mountain home.

Meet Sarah Latham, founder and principal of LATHAM INTERIORS, a full-service interior design studio in Ketchum, Idaho, focused on creating thoughtful, beautiful, and innovative designs.

What, in your opinion, is the secret to fresh, yet timeless, interior design?

One way to embody a timeless feel is to use natural materials whenever possible—stone, wood, daylight—all are perfectly created by Mother Nature and inherently timeless. The more natural your selections, the more staying power they will have over the years. The freshness in design comes from the layout and the details—shapes, colors and textures, and using those natural elements in unique and interesting ways.

What inspires your team’s designs?

Our greatest sources of inspiration are nature and our experiences in travel. We love to incorporate unexpected elements from different cultures, food, community, and art into our designs. In addition, we tap into natural inspiration on almost every project we do. The environment around our projects provides a natural connection to the selections we make to enhance our clients’ interior environments.

What’s new and exciting in your online curated furniture and decór collections?

We are always adding new items we love to our online shop! We’re passionate about what we do but can’t always spend time with each homeowner, so our online shop allows them to purchase directly from our curated collections. There’s always something fun to find! Right now we’re loving the Wildhorse end table made from natural honed marble— such a perfect silhouette for a distinctive addition to any room.
