March means spring break and Colorado is a wonderful place for families to travel together. There are so many ways to keep the kids occupied during spring break in Colorado. Whether it’s a week long stay or just a weekend visit, these two towns are truly kid-friendly and will provide a memorable spring break for the ones you love most.

Glenwood Springs is one of the best Colorado towns for families. With endless activities, family-friendly restaurants and a nearby ski slope, this destination quite literally has something for everyone.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park
If you like thrill rides, they’ve got them. In fact, the Haunted Mine Drop has won all sorts of awards since it opened in 2017. The ride drops 110 feet inside the depths of Iron Mountain and isn’t for the faint of heart.

There is so much to do at Glenwood Caverns that your family could easily spent several days at this attraction. Of course, your kids may never want to leave the pool at Hotel Glenwood Springs. This hotel sits at the bottom of the gondolas that whisk riders to Glenwood Caverns.
Glenwood Spring is also the home to Iron Mountain Hot Springs, the town’s newest hot springs venue, and the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, celebrating its 131st birthday this year.
Nearby, Sunlight Mountain provides skiing opportunities at an approachable resort at a family-friendly price. The Ski, Swim, Stay Packages are some of the most family-friendly vacations available in Colorado.
Located in the foothills 25 minutes west of Denver, Golden is a paradise for weekend warriors. Despite its proximity to Denver, this town feels much more remote.
Golden is a wonderful place for children. The riverwalk provides endless recreational activities, especially for kids who love history. Be sure to stop by the Golden History Park and the museum, both located on the trail. The park and museum are free.
Golden History Park
There is a collection of real cabins from the 1800s at the park. Be sure to feed the chickens when you go, and bring a camera because the place is extremely photogenic especially with your kiddos in the picture.

The Golden History Museum recently underwent a renovation and is a warm and welcoming place for your child to have fun learning. In celebration of its 80th anniversary, a generous donor has provided funding to keep the museum admission rates free for 2019.
Another free museum in Golden is the Geology Museum at the School of Mines. This is an old college and an old museum. The Geology Museum was started in 1875 and later became home to one of the state’s two Goodwill moon rocks collected during the Apollo 17 mission. Today, the museum also features minerals, fossils, gemstones, meteorites and historic mining artifacts on two floors.
