The owners wanted to build their dream home—with a combination of sleek design elements and natural, organic materials. The result is a stunning tree-engulfed retreat that makes a bold statement amidst its minimal design—striking, angled roofs, a commanding entryway, and bright, white-and-wooden interiors with pops of color and shine.
This contemporary home incorporates large oversized windows and uniquely shaped and placed windows that open the home up and harmonize with the surrounding landscape. They provide plenty of natural light, thus infusing it with a sense of sunny spaciousness. They brighten and lighten the home even with visually heavy details of the timber frame and wood ceiling.
The interior finishes use a lot of natural elements, such as Douglas fir and stone. These natural finishes are mixed with steel, concrete, and other industrial-inspired materials to provide an aesthetic yin and yang. The simplicity and clean lines of the furniture and cabinets play off of the complexity of the frame. The heavy Douglas fir polished parallel cord trusses are mixed with elements of steel within, and are complimented by bowstring trusses to create a true sense of balance.
