A Piece of Paradise: Cimarron Mountain Club

No need to worry about noisy neighbors here. With only 15 Memberships available (10 remaining) and 15 homesites dotting 1,750 acres of backcountry wilderness surrounded by protected forests between Telluride and Crested Butte, Cimarron Mountain Club will offer a secluded mountain getaway to its future Members.

The brainchild of some of the biggest names in Colorado’s ski biz (including former top dogs of Aspen Skiing Company, Telluride Ski Resort, Vail Resorts and Beaver Creek Resorts), the Club is designed with skiing in mind. Members will enjoy private access to a projected 80 ski runs ranging from beginner to expert terrain. Summer activities around the Club’s high ridge and scenic valley include fishing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding and hunting. A main lodge designed by Aspen-based architect Bill Poss will offer a restaurant, spa, gym and yoga studios.

A central Lodge, with approximately 14,000 square feet including six guestrooms, will be located at the confluence of the ski runs on the Upper Club. It will feature grand views of the surrounding wilderness, multiple seating and dining areas, bar, game and kids' areas, fitness, steam and massage rooms, outdoor pool, hot tub, ice skating pond and firepit. For those in smaller parties, The Lodge Guestrooms will be the perfect retreat.

Three four-bedroom Club Cabins with inspiring views will be just a short walk from The Lodge. Each Club Cabin will feature two master suites and two additional bedrooms (each with en-suite bathrooms), living and dining areas, and comfortable outdoor living areas, heated at night and in winter by outdoor fire pits and fireplaces. During the Club's first operating year and prior to the completion of The Lodge, one of the three four-bedroom Club Cabins is proposed to serve as the Club Lodge.

The Member cabins will adhere to architectural guidelines while still varying in style, from mountain modern to traditional rustic. “Someone can’t go up there and build a shack,” general manager Johnnie Stevens explains, “but we can’t say what people design.” Something tells us that with Memberships priced from $3.2 million to $ 3.4 million, the cabins to come may rival their grand surroundings.

Resident skiers have access to helicopter pick-up and drop-off service in the snowy San Juans.

CIMARRON BY THE NUMBERS:

10 or 15 MEMBERSHIPS are available; a Membership may be Family Use or Shared Use, which would allow two friends to share the Membership.
The club currently has 60 named and developed private SKI RUNS, with more to come.
Prices range from $3.2 MILLION to $3.4 MILLION per Membership, with annual dues estimated to be $55,000 to $65,000. The final figures will be shared with the committed Founding Members.
The Member cabin sites will al lbe 35 ACRES.
Encompassing 1,750 ACRES of WILDERNESS, the Club’s ski terrain is 1.5 times the size of Aspen Mountain.
