The Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance
What you missed at the fun-filled 46th annual event
The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance welcomed wooden boat lovers and connoisseurs for a weekend of fun and boating in the sun. The 46th annual event was staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood, California, on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore.
Judges from throughout the United States convene on the lake to reward those who have restored their boats to the highest level of authenticity, as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory. Award categories include People’s Choice, Most Elegant Boat of the Show, Best Professional Restorer, Best Original Tahoe Boat, Best of Show and more.
Guests can attend a variety of social events throughout the weekend, like the Exhibitors’ Barbeque and Awards Presentation, or the Ladies’ Luncheon and Fashion Show, and Woodie Over-The-Bottom, a boating event involving many of the wooden boats displayed at the Concours d’Elegance.
What began in 1972 with a group of Tahoe Yacht Club members and friends with a passion for wooden boats has turned into an annual event that is significant to the wooden boat community and the Lake Tahoe maritime community. Since its induction in 1994, the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation has hosted the event, and raised money for charitable causes, like providing educational opportunities that enhance expertise or understanding of maritime skills.
