The 2017 Concours D’Elegance
Held at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore: August 11-12, 2017
Gear up for the 45th annual Concours D’Elegance staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore.
The two-day show, August 11-12, 2017, is open to the public is a nationally acclaimed display of iconic wooden boats.
Concours invites judges from across the United States to use the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation’s own nationally-acclaimed 100 point judging system and score sheet. Their collective goal: to reward those who have restored their boats to the highest level of authenticity, as they appeared when they were shipped from the factory.
The Exhibitors’ Barbecue and Awards Presentation on Friday evening is just one of the social events of Concours. A gala Opening Night Dinner and Dance kicks off Wooden Boat Week, with a Men’s Grill, Ladies’ Luncheon and Fashion Show, and Woodie Over-The-Bottom.
OPENING NIGHT DINNER
It all begins on the elegant landscape of the all new Tahoe Maritime Museum Thursday August 10th at 5pm. Guests will get to step back in time with the rich Tahoe history set as backdrop while enjoying cocktails, live music, dancing, a silent auction, wine and a fabulous dinner under the pines of Lake Tahoe. We encourage guests to make reservations sooner than later as seating is limited to the first 200. Reservations are $145 per person.
LADIES LUNCHEON ON THE LAKE
On Sunday August 13th at 11:30, whether coming by car or boat, casual dress and low-heeled shoes are recommended for your comfort on the sprawling lawn of our host’s home at 4280 West Lake Blvd. Set on the lake and against the majestic pines of Homewood, California, this lunch is just a short distance north of the host location of the Men’s Grill. Enjoy this mid-day affair with wine and the taste of one of Tahoe’s most renowned caterer’s cuisine, Melanie Jackson.
MEN’S GRILL
The tradition continues, Sunday August 13th at Noon, as we honor our late friend, Tahoe Yacht Club Staff Commodore, Howard Turner. Hosted annually on the pristine lakeside landscape of Turner’s “Playtime” estate at 4860 West Lake Blvd, the Men’s Grill is guaranteed to be a laid back afternoon to relax and enjoy the Tahoe summer air, a hosted bar and an old-fashioned backyard barbecue catered by Melanie Jackson.
WOODIE OVER THE BOTTOM
Join the Tahoe Yacht Club in the annual Woodie OTB, a boating event involving many of the wooden boats displayed at the Concours D’Elegance. This event focuses on following a pre-set course and managing boat speed, time and direction. Non-wooden boats are also welcome to join. The event will begin and end at the Tahoe City Marina. The Woodie OTB is topped with a brunch and award ceremony at the Tahoe Yacht Club directly following the event. Brunch is $20 per person.
