Reinventing a Mountain Home Staple
Shawn Rivett's contemporary take on the antler chandelier
A staple in mountain homes all over the West, antler chandeliers are far from novel. But Casper, Wyoming, native Shawn Rivett has found a way to make the classic idea a contemporary knockout. Using locally sourced, natural shed elk and deer antlers, Rivett applies an artistic approach to his collection of decorative sculptures and functional light fixtures.
The sheds are sanded and seamlessly fused together in a variety of elegant forms before they receive an optional coat of white paint. To complete the modern look, orb-shaped or Edison-style bulbs float in the center of their sculptural shell, providing a soft glow.
