Béla Fleck and the Flecktones in Jackson This Summer
Grammy award-winning quartet Béla Fleck and the Flecktones headline Jackson Hole Center for the Arts’ The Center Benefit on July 11, 2018!
Groundbreaking banjoist/composer/bandleader Béla Fleck has reconvened the original band, with pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy back in the fold alongside Fleck, bassist Victor Wooten and percussionist/drumitarist Roy “Futureman” Wooten, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band’s inception!
“There a special thing that happens when the four of us get together and play,” notes Levy. “We all have the same attitude if trying to do things we haven’t done before and coincidentally, no one else has either.”
The ‘original’ Flecktones were resolute that their reunion would not be rooted in nostalgia. The goal from the start was to drive the music forward to places where it might’ve progressed had things gone differently.
Preparations for this highly anticipated event are well underway, including an extraordinary pre and post-show celebration! All proceeds from The Center Benefit will help support The Center’s artistic, education and community programs.
Past Center benefit performers include Willie Nelson, Frank Sinatra Jr., Lily Tomlin, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, EmmyLou Harris, Pat Metheny and Bruce Hornsby, Vince Gill, Brandi Carlile and Lyle Lovett and His Large Band.
“We could not be more excited to host this one-of-a-kind experience at The Center. It is incredibly rare to be able to see Béla Fleck as an entire ensemble with the Flecktones, but the opportunity to see them in our intimate theater is truly a life experience not to miss,” remarked Mack Mendenhall, 2018 chair of The Center Benefit.
