This modern retreat in Colorado’s Estes Park was redesigned with 360-degree views and entertaining in mind.
This beautiful mountain home in Estes Park, Colorado—with its modern style, breathtaking wraparound views, and warm and inviting vibe—was designed to feel like a warm hug from the moment you walk in the door.
Upon realizing that the architecture and positioning of their home did not take full advantage of the property’s stunning 360-degree views, these homeowners and their design team decided to scrap the original plan of a minimal remodel and start from scratch. The existing home was torn down and a new one was built in its place—with incredible sights at every available angle.
The home’s comforting and cozy vibe greets owners and their guests immediately upon entry. A contemporary light fixture hangs above curved walls, which are covered in reclaimed textured wood and accentuated by two totem sculptures (“Women’s Rite” and “Evolution Revolution”) by Corbin Bronze. An earthy rug adds even more texture and leads guests down the hallway toward a striking view.
Oversize windows wrap around the simple-yet-sophisticated interiors of the great room. Ample seating sets the stage for gathering and entertaining.
Two inviting A. Rudin swivel chairs are positioned next to the great room’s show-stopping steel fireplace for relaxation on chilly mountain evenings.
An airy open layout allows for seamless transitions from the living space to the kitchen and dining area, and uninterrupted views of Longs Peak.
Entertainers at heart, these homeowners wanted a kitchen that would dazzle their guests. The kitchen island’s leather granite slab and mirrored steel cloud hood with lighting above add warmth and dimension. The live-edge walnut sitting area is truly a work of art; the tabletop is made of wood from a tree near the owner’s Maryland home, and the base is the bronzed trunk of a tree from the Estes Park property.
The home serves as a sanctuary for the owners to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life—and while its 8,000 square feet, seven bedrooms, bunkroom, and eight baths allow for an abundance of visitors, the home also provides the owners with further retreat from guests, when necessary.
With its warm woods, natural light, and all-encompassing mountain views, the master bath is the perfect retreat after hosting a dinner party or taking a day hike—a serene and luxurious place where the owners can bask in their home’s natural beauty.
