A Recap of the 2017 Crested Butte Arts Festival

Over 12,000 people visited the 45th annual Crested Butte Arts Festival, featuring incredible art, fantastic cuisine, exhilarating entertainment, artist demonstrations, children’s activities and an art auction.

Festival goers wandered through art-filled streets of Crested Butte and took in the sights and works of over 150 artists and 6 live art demonstrations from painters, sculptors, mixed media and metal artists.

An estimated 215+ kids visited Art Alley, a creative space for children and their caregivers to make inspired and imaginative keepsakes for free!

The Crested Butte Arts Festival also gives back to the community in the form of art grants and art education & outreach programs in the local schools. Western State student, Christine Belgarde, was chosen as the 2017 Emerging Artist and had her “The House of the Spider’s Daughter” featured at the 2017 Festival. This installation is an interactive structure that references and celebrates the origin story of fiber art and the long lineage of female artists who have created it in their homes. The viewer explores the intimate home space of the Spider’s Daughter, a space consumed by fiber art.

Mountain Living is proud to sponsor the Crested Butte Arts Festival!
