A Personal Ranch Retreat—Built by a Hotelier
Kessler Canyon is a secluded ranch originally built as a destination lodge by one of the country’s most creative luxury hotel developers, former Days Inn Hotels CEO Richard C. Kessler. Kessler and his family wanted to create a guest experience that surpasses all expectations, and apparently it does—particularly to Atlanta-based tech entrepreneur Peter Kight, who recently purchased the lodge from Kessler for $28 million. Kight, the proprietor of Torbreck, Quivira, and La Follette vineyards, renamed the property Branded Rock Canyon with plans to use the picturesque ruggedness of the western-Colorado property as his family’s personal ranch retreat.

Nestled on a private 15,000 acres amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Garfield County’s Brush Creek Valley and Skinner Ridge, the property controls a large expanse of high-country wildlife habitat, big game and upland bird hunting, and fishing.

The property includes the main Homestead Lodge, plush guest rooms, an owner’s suite, an executive boardroom, a movie theater, exercise and game rooms, the Orchard Lake Guesthouse with self-contained VIP suite, a state-of-the-art, eight-station shooting pavilion, and more.

Take a tour below.

And when the Kight family is not visiting the ranch, the lodge will be available for advance reservations (by invitation only) hunting, fishing, and shooting and/or corporations seeking executive retreats and conferences.
