A Look at Fall 2024’s Color Trends in Home Design
Pantone's predictions inspire an upcoming blend of color and luxurious harmony in home decor
Each year the Pantone Color Institute predicts the color trends of the year, influencing the home design industries from architecture and interior design to textiles, home decor, and more. This year’s theme, Embrace the Warmth, features rich colors, comforting hues, natural shades and warm, earthy tones—perfect for the upcoming transition from summer to fall.
From Tomato Cream, “a nourishing toasty hue that warms the soul” and Fern, “a warm leafy green rooted in the natural world,” to Italian Plum, “a deep dark purple full of magical energies,” these colors are infused with an inherent richness and earthiness that highlights our deeper connection to nature. The warm, comforting hues trending in autumn home decor seamlessly align with this year’s popular palette. Here, we share four simple ways to embrace the trend.
Throws
The change of season is a natural time for people to seek fresh ways to utilize existing items and add inexpensive accessories in order to enhance their homes for the upcoming season. Throws are an easy way to add texture, color, and mood for autumn. The plush throws from American Heritage Textiles shown above reflect tones— ivory, sage, camel, taupe, rust and coffee—which embody this season’s soft, earthy palette.

In the bedroom, the light apricot tones from spring evolve into the natural sunset hues of fall, fading gracefully into the new season. Richer shades of caramel, plum and aubergine infuse a moody ambiance to the private spaces of the home and a sense of coziness that accomodates the falling temperatures.
Table Linens and Accessories
This season’s table textiles and linens evoke a vintage charm, reminding us of a simpler time when nature and the outdoors captured our sense of wonder and amazement. Wildly popular mushroom décor, a literal offshoot of the “back to nature” trend, complements Pantone’s predicted color palette perfectly.

Similarly, autumn’s outdoor décor trends reflect the Pantone color palette with burnished hues in hushed tones. An enchanting and cozy woodland aesthetic brings a nature-inspired sense of whimsy with pumpkins, lanterns, woodland creatures, mushrooms, leaves, moss, branches and more.
