The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance Sails into its 49th Year
Concours is known as the most prestigious wooden and classic boat show in North America
The Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance will take place on Lake Tahoe’s idyllic West Shore August 11-12 celebrating ‘Boats of the 60’s.’ Now in its 49th year, Concours is presented by Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation (TYCF) and partner Tahoe Luxury Properties. Hosted by the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood, California, this year’s event will enjoy the highest water and clarity point in Lake Tahoe since the 1980’s due to the recent Sierra snowpack.
Concours will feature more than 60 of the finest classic watercrafts meeting the rigorous and exacting quality standards set by the show. This event is world renowned for its quality boat exhibits and high judging standards and practices establishing the event as a benchmark in the wooden boat community. The exhibitor showcase displays some of the most well-preserved and restored wooden and classic fiberglass boats from across the country. Concours has created a proprietary 100-point judging system, and consistently raises the bar to perpetuate its tradition as North America’s premier wooden and classic boat show.
Guests at this year’s Concours d’Elegance can anticipate a unique and immersive maritime experience that includes tours of exhibitor boats, a private awards BBQ overlooking the docks, and the iconic Roar-Off under the Olson Bridge. In addition to the boats, attendees will sip wines expertly curated from wineries across the Western United States. Handcrafted cocktails and shopping at the nearby luxury and high-end boutiques is a must, and live jazz will accompany a delicious meal catered by local chefs. The intimate social events surrounding the show add to the elegant ambience that makes the Concours experience exceptional.
Under the charitable umbrella of the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, the TYCF is funded almost exclusively from the proceeds of the annual Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance event. The Foundation’s mission is to protect and preserve the environment and history of the Lake Tahoe Basin, and a portion of the proceeds are earmarked to assist Lake Tahoe area nonprofits whose focus is to enhance maritime skills and preserve maritime history. With the generous support of the Concours community and sponsors, the Foundation has been able to award over $410,000 in grants to various maritime-related, charitable, and cultural organizations since its induction.
