What to Expect at the 29th Annual Strings Music Festival

Strings Music Pavilion is about to explode with country legends, jazz greats, Grammy Award-winners and principal players from all over the country. The eight-week concert season marks the 29th anniversary of Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Music Director Michael Sachs returns for his second year and brings with him some of the nation's best classical musicians. The 2016 classical season features principal players and concertmasters from leading orchestras across the nation. Soprano Ellie Dehn, joined by members of the New York Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic, shines in an evening of baroque chamber music. Fourteen members of the National Brass Ensemble will premiere brand new transcriptions of John Williams' most beloved film and Olympic music for brass and percussion, conducted by Richard Kaufman. In two intimate evenings, Los Angeles Philharmonic Concertmaster Martin Chalifour will lead concerts highlighting French and Romantic chamber music. And the silver screen returns with an orchestra performance and screening of the award-winning Charlie Chaplin film The Gold Rush.

Soloists include world renowned violinist Chee-Yun with the Strings Festival Orchestra, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Silver Medalist Joyce Yang, cimbalom virtuoso Chester Englander performing with pianist Wendy Chen, and The Cleveland Orchestra’s Principal Trumpet Michael Sachs both on the conductor podium and as soloist.
