It’s October and Colorado has plenty of ghostly appeal
It’s October, and that means the ghosts are coming out to play. Colorado has plenty of ghostly appeal, from real-life ghost towns to headstones hidden in the trees. There’s no better place to walk with ghosts than on a ghost walk in one of Colorado’s historic towns. Here are a few that are sure to please.

Join Aspen Walking Tours this October for the Cemetery Tour happening at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 and 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27.
Today, it may be known for skiing and celebrity sightings, but Aspen has a vivid and sometimes harsh history. Founded by miners in 1879, many buildings around town date from this prosperous silver mining period.

This tour is a guided walk through Aspen’s first burial ground, Ute Cemetery. It tells the story of Aspen’s early days as “Ute City” and the people who settled the area. The tour is not only entertaining, but educational too, and reveals a side of Aspen that few visitors see.
Stay: A 5-Diamond hotel, The Little Nell celebrates its 30th anniversary this winter and festivities will take place throughout the season. The luxurious property has undergone a recent remodel as well.

It's close to Denver and yet Golden feels miles away from the big city. Tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the history of this town is fascinating. Colorado Haunted History conducts a “Murder, Mayhem and Madness” tour that provides wild tales of the town’s lurid past.

Some stories on the tour may not be appropriate for all ages and parental guidance is strongly suggested for children under age 13. There are other tours here too, as this is a year-round tour company.
Stay: The Dove Inn provides a carefree stay in a beautifully remodeled historic home that features a mix of modern conveniences and vintage design. The home has been converted into a boutique inn located within walking distance of downtown Golden.

Taking place on October 18-19 and 25-26, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society will host its Historic Ghost Walk through Linwood Cemetery, home to the grave of gunslinger Doc Holliday.
The tours are held at twilight and led by costumed actors who will portray pioneers from Glenwood Springs’ exciting past.

Three tours are given each night. Tours are limited to 30 brave souls and children under five are not recommended. Guests are asked to bring lanterns or flashlights and to come prepared for a moderately strenuous ⅓ mile hike to the cemetery.
