The Perfect Travel Experiences for Dad
While moms often get spa days or brunch on Mother’s Day, dads sometimes get the short end of the stick when it comes to their special day. Here’s a few ideas for making your father feel extra loved this Father’s Day, and you don’t have to book these trips on Father’s Day weekend. Book these adventures for later in the summer and give him something to look forward to.

Take your dad out to a ballgame this summer with The Maven’s Colorado Rockies Home Run Package. One of Denver’s newer hotel properties, The Maven is located in the revamped Dairy Block and is just a five-minute walk from Coors Field.
While urban and beautifully appointed, The Maven is all about baseball during the summertime; true lovers of the game can book a stay in the Diamond Suite. This luxurious suite has a wrap-around porch, a curated collection of baseball art and movies, and snacks for a true baseball connoisseur.
Choose one of two baseball packages, including the exclusive “25th Anniversary Bucket List” package, which includes a stay in the Diamond Suite, a VIP pre-game tour and a lot more. Dads who cook will love this new event at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. It’s a “Cooking with Fire Series” that will take cooking on a wood fire grill to a new level. Executive Chef Wade Eybel is creating a six week summer series educating guests and locals about cooking with fire and showcasing different cooking techniques such as Caja China, Charcoal Fired Wooden Roasting Box, BBQ Smoker Pit and more. A few of the weekly themes include cooking an entire pig from local purveyor Mountain View Pork, Colorado Beef from Colorado Meat Company and tortillas from Denver’s Raquelita Tortillas.
The Cooking with Fire Series begins on June 29, 2018 at the resort’s Mountainside Bar & Grill. Learn more here.

Not every dad is a “car guy,” but for those who are, take note: The Rocky Mountain region is teaming with car shows during the summer. The 10th Annual Pagosa Springs Car Show takes place the weekend before Father’s Day, but this doesn’t mean you can’t surprise him with an early trip to Southwest Colorado; the area is absolutely stunning in the springtime.
The Vail Automotive Classic hosts a three-day car extravaganza in Vail each September, and the Colorado Corvette Club hosts an annual car show in Grand Lake each August. You could plan a trip with dad around the Colorado Grand, an event that covers 1,000 miles over a five-day period each September and features only sports and race cars of distinction from the 1960s and earlier. They make various stops along the way, including one in Leadville.

If your dad likes to fish, then there’s nothing better than a guided fishing tour in the Rocky Mountains. Fishing destinations are numerous in Colorado, but Grand Lake is a fantastic place to take Dad, as it is Colorado’s largest and deepest natural lake.
For the ultimate fishing experience, book him a guided fishing trip with an outfitter. These outings can be as short as a couple of hours on Grand Lake or a multi-day excursion.
Guided fishing trips are available across the state and beyond, from fishing along the North Platte in Saratoga, Wyoming, to the Animas River in Durango, one of the last free-flowing rivers in the state of Colorado.
