New Luxury Lodging in Vail

Vail is not short on nice places to stay; however, a brand new property in Lionshead is setting a new bar for luxury.

It’s not often that Vail gets a brand new property, but the Lion is entirely new, from the foundation to the roof. Located across the street from Lionshead Village with its array of shops and restaurants, the Lion’s seven floors of elegant residences is breathing new life into this serene part of Vail.

We’ve stayed in this part of Vail several times, and its quietness makes it a great place to escape to at the end of a fun day on the slopes or shopping in the village. Plus, staying on this end of Vail gives one easy access to The Little Diner, a favorite breakfast spot of locals and visitors. There’s also a well-stocked liquor store in Lionshead Village with a friendly and knowledgeable ownera homey touch for those on an extended vacation in Vail.

There are 65 incredible residences at the Lion. No detail has been overlooked; from the foyer to the elevators the interior design is clean and modern. I especially love the wall coverings by Area Environments, a studio that creates wall coverings and large-scale murals from original art.

While the Lion is a masterpiece of design on every level, the amenities set it apart from the rest. In a well-manicured outdoor courtyard, an oversized saltwater hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes or the bicycle. There’s also an immaculate indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and shower facilities. This section of the property has a bit of a contemporary European flair, yet still maintains a laid-back Colorado feel.

Of course, this property has all the standard amenities too, such as a fitness center, business center, great room and lounge area, and other spaces that are being developed as child care facilities. There’s a gorgeous ski locker room, and while the property is not ski-in/ski-out, door-to-slope service will be provided during ski season. In 2018, a restaurant will be added to the Lion’s catalog of offerings.

Every residence has outdoor patios and some include patio access from nearly every room. The units are light and bright, taking full advantage of Colorado’s more than 300 days of sunshine a year.

While the Lion is a luxurious property, they welcome families and have created the communal areas around the property with families in mind.

The Lion will begin renting to guests on June 30, 2017. Note: East West Destination Hospitality's Vail Mountain Lodging division is handling the rental inventory.
