The roaring-twenties-themed series has plenty more to showcase for the remainder of August

Vail Jazz Festival is in full swing for the 25th annual year producing classic ragtime beats and jam-worthy tunes from piano to soulful saxophones. Although the festival began performances in July, the musicians have plenty more to showcase for the remainder of August with more pieces to remind you of the roaring ‘20s.

Upcoming shows:

The dynamic blues and jazz band, Wanye Wilkinson Trio, will also make an appearance at the festival on August 26 for a free performance at the Vail Farmers’ Market. Notoriously known for their innovation in jazz composition, the band will entertain with joyous beats accompanied by the picturesque Rocky Mountains and bites from the markets.

Vail Jazz Party
August 30 – September 3, 2018
The Vail Jazz Party kicks off on August 30th and continues through Labor Day weekend with plenty of jam sessions nestled away in the colorful city of Vail. Fresh new talent right out of high school dubbed the "Vail Jazz All Stars," will begin the musical party on Thursday evening.  The performance is shortly followed by Vail Jazz Alumni showcasing their talents from Zach Brown on bass to Jeffery Miller on trombone. The festivities continue all weekend long with over 35 hours of diversified renditions of jazz-age tempos.

West Side Story and More
August 31, 2018
West Side Story, a contemporary award-winning interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, will also have their score make a musical debut as a jazz medley on the August 31. The composition was originally conceived by critically acclaimed Leonard Berstein, the musical director of the New York Philharmonic, known for other scores such as the classic Peter Pan or the musical, On the Town. After many jazz-inspired renditions of the original score, spectators will now see instrumentalists like John Clayton, Lewis Nash and Peter Bernstein navigate the versatility of the music with added elements of jazz in the Grand Ballroom at the Vail Marriott.
