Design of the Day: Driftwood Orb Chandelier

When we’re on the hunt for great lighting, one of the first manufacturers we look to is Currey & Company.

Hand-forged iron pieces have long been a company specialty, but in recent years Currey & Co. has expanded its materials palette to include seashells, porcelain, brass and wood.

Which brings us to the design we’re oohing and ahhing over today. The Driftwood Orb Chandelier is created from a wrought-iron framework that’s covered with one-of-a-kind driftwood pieces. Each small piece of wood is carefully selected, left unfinished, and carefully wired to the frame. While the finished product would certainly look right at home in a cottage at the shore, the look isn’t too “beachy.” In fact, we think this rustic piece would fit in just as well in a high-country home.

Crazy for driftwood? Currey & Co.’s chandelier reminds us of a table lamp we recently spotted at West Elm. Also made of naturally weathered wood, it offers a similar look — at a much lower price point.
