A Ski Trip Back in Time

A vintage-inspired art series highlights the timeless glamour of Aspen

Snow-packed ridges, alpine glamour and a vintage aesthetic: fine art photographer and New York Times best-selling author Gray Malin is bringing his artistic brand of dreamy aerial portraits to the Rocky Mountains this winter.

Malin’s newest fine art photography series depicts Aspen as a retro winter wonderland, and will appropriately be featured at Aspen’s beloved resort, The Little Nell through February 17.

“I am so thrilled to have been able to work with The Little Nell on this special photo series. My goal was to capture a vintage perspective on the undeniable glamour of this iconic location while conveying the sense of exclusivity that is synonymous with Aspen’s ski community,” says Malin.

Malin curated the week-long photoshoot to portray the quintessential Aspen ski and après experience that makes it a top destination. Utilizing vintage ski garb and props from the 1950’s and 1980’s, the photographs evoke feelings of nostalgia against the stunning topography. Some of the elements include old-school ski outfits, vintage Goyard and Louis Vuitton trunks, a 1950’s Porsche and even a Bernese Mountain dog.

“In celebrating The Little Nell’s 30th anniversary this ski season, we knew we wanted to evoke memories from treasured times over the years,” says Jonathan Fillman, General Manager of The Little Nell. “We could not think of a better way to bring visions of the past to life than with this collaboration with Gray Malin. He perfectly captures the hotel’s storied history and the skiing culture of Aspen.”

Signed and numbered prints will be available as limited editions on graymalin.com and at the hotel’s retail boutique.
