A Rustic-Chic Stay in Breckenridge
The Ranahan packs rustic lodging and outdoor adventure into one spot
If there’s a single word to describe Breckenridge’s The Ranahan Resort, it’s cozy. Only a five-mile drive to downtown Breckenridge’s Main Street and ski area, Welk Resorts’ newest ranch-style lodging offers thoughtfully designed floor plans for traveling families, or a spacious weekend getaway for two.
Located on six acres of land in Colorado’s Rockies near the Blue River, this charming property opened its doors in January 2020 and boasts fully furnished and condo-style “villas,” including a kitchen and living room area for entertaining. Just beyond the doors, guests enjoy a communal fire pit area and three different hot tubs after a day of skiing.
There’s even a complimentary shuttle to take skiers and riders to their desired destination on the mountain such as to Peak 9’s Beaver Run or Peak 8’s Gondola and Village base.
For those not looking to hit the slopes, the property has its own recreation with one-of-a-kind snowshoeing experiences, scavenger hunts and snowman-making kits onsite. Come summertime, there’s hiking trails, bike excursions and trout fishing galore.
Some of the other amenities include a fitness center, bar and lounge (read: hot fudge sundaes on Friday and Sunday nights or local craft beer tastings on Saturdays).
The Ranahan is ultimately an ode to Breck’s Western history, with interior design inspired by the region’s connection to the gold rush and deeply rooted cattle-ranching history. The result: an ultra warm lodging haven that fits in perfectly with the surrounding setting.
