A Gem of a Stay in Jackson

A one-stop shop for everything from adventure to fine dining

When it comes to real estate, we all know it’s about location, location, location, and Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming has a premiere mountainside spot. As the crow flies, Spring Creek Ranch is close to downtown Jackson, but there’s a mountain in the way. It’s an 11-minute drive around East Gros Ventre Butte to get to the property. Spring Creek Ranch runs shuttles to downtown and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, or you can easily order an Uber (as of February 2018, there were no Lyft drivers in Jackson, Wyoming).

There’s a lot to do at Snow Creek Ranch; facilities include a spa, pool, tennis, and dining. This is a one-stop shop for everything available in the Jackson Hole area, from heli-skiing and glider flights to wildlife safaris into Grand Teton and Yellowstone.

The ranch's on-site restaurant, The Granary, is where locals take their out-of-town guests. The view is magazine cover-worthy and the food is outstanding. Executive Chef Michael Burke takes great pride in a menu that features Wyoming beef, elk tenderloin, steelhead, and more. Open for breakfast, lunch, aprés ski and dinner, there are lots of opportunities for guests and visitors to dine at The Granary.

Someone is always tickling the keys of the grand piano in The Granary Lounge, above the restaurant, and there are frequent evenings of live jazz. The bartenders will set you up with a Prosecco for celebrating or a nice Wyoming whiskey for sipping.

Real foodies shouldn’t miss Piemonte in the Tetons, held each winter at The Granary. We attended this culinary extravaganza in February, and it’s one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve encountered during our travels.

Chef Carlos Zarri of Italy and Chef Burke create two chef dinners that have to be tasted to be fully appreciated. This year’s courses included items such as Smoked Saddle of Venison and Risotto Arancini with Truffles. Keep an eye here for the 2019 dates of Piemonte in the Tetons.

The ranch boasts a variety of lodging options, from inn rooms to mountain chalets. We stayed in a spacious three-bedroom Spirit Dance townhome. As an end unit, the townhome had a big deck for viewing the majestic landscape and could easily serve as a fabulous getaway for a family vacation.

A stay at Spring Creek Ranch marries top-level service with a laid-back atmosphere. After all, this is Wyoming, and no one puts on airs here. They do, however, appreciate fine meals and amazing experiences.
