A Bozeman Home Built for Views & a Crew
A rustic-chic Montana abode brings the outdoors in
This luxurious home, which sits right off the fairway at the prestigious Black Bull golf community in Bozeman, Montana, was designed with the homeowners’ three main goals in mind: space for the husband to run his business, guest quarters for the couple’s extended family visits, and ample room for friends to visit (and have their own leg room while doing so).
The result? A breathtaking timber frame home on a spacious piece of property within the community—combining two adjoining lots to properly capture views of the Bridger Mountain Range and to also allow for an attached casita to accommodate family and guests.
Reclaimed timber trusses and rafters frame the custom entry door flanked by Montana moss rock stone veneer.
Upon entering the home, it is clear that the design is centered on the double-height great room, which easily flows into the dining and kitchen spaces and also integrates the stunning mountain backdrop.
Although anchored by a stone fireplace, the great room suddenly extends out past its walls when the large lift-and-slide doors open to the back patio. When the doors are fully open, the homeowners and their loved ones enjoy a combined 27-foot-wide by 9-foot-tall space of open air, truly merging indoor and outdoor spaces.
Situated on the north side of the property is a home office with a stellar view framed with reclaimed corral board and a glass top.
On the east end is a hall library that continues on to the master bedroom, where the homeowners wake each day to a gorgeous sunrise.
While the husband runs his business from the office and the lower-level workshop, the wife, an artist, thoughtfully stages fun pieces throughout the serene interior design.
To the west are two guest suites, as well as the utility room and mud room (large enough to handle a house full of people).
In the lower level, the homeowners enjoy their pool table and poker playing area along with a comfortable, well furnished, and funky home theater.
Also in the lower level is the workshop, where the husband can explore further creations for his business, as well as to build custom features (like the canopy lights over the stairs, below).
Ample gathering space, creative expression, the outdoors, and beloved visitors are all called indoors in this rustic-chic home—while maintaining a visual tribute to the land and surrounding mountain views.
