A Traditional and Timeless Approach to Holiday Decor
Owner and creative director of interior design firm Kibler & Kirch, Jeremiah Young shares his take on classic Christmas style.
With the holiday season in full effect, designers are relishing the endless possibilities for crafting the classic Christmas home. “One of the things I love about the holidays is that they give you a free pass to embrace your love of plaids,” says Jeremiah Young, owner and creative director of the interior design firm Kibler & Kirch.
In Young’s Paradise Valley project, every inch of the home was infused with Christmas magic for a San Diego-based family dreaming of a Montana retreat. A mix of evergreens, pine cones, beautifully wrapped gifts, and layered plaids further evokes the charm of the season. “They just work. Pile up cozy blankets in a range of plaids, let them drip over furniture or railings and add plaid throw pillows to bring both decoration and a cozy vibe.”
For those looking to create their own festive winter abode, Kibler & Kirch’s brick-and-mortar location has become a beloved destination for holiday design. “Timelessness and sense of place are important to all of our interiors,” says Young. “We love authentic, handcrafted pieces that are true to Montana, and those qualities are always on trend for holiday décor that will last, becoming cherished heirlooms and part of an annual family tradition.”
“That said, the kind of natural, organic, and handcrafted elements we’ve always used are particularly popular right now and they’re a perfect fit for Montana, connecting to the beauty of our natural surroundings. In the West, winter lasts so long, and you put so much effort into decorating,” he adds. “Using natural elements allows you to enjoy it for much, much longer.”
