A Bright Idea to Elevate Outdoor Furniture
How Hollywood poolside glam inspired outdoor furnishings today
It was leisure-living kismet in 1945 Pasadena when designers Robert Brown and Hubert Jordan channeled Southern California’s Hollywood-inspired poolside glam to invent the outdoor furniture category. Lately, the now-iconic Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens has been cooking with color, bringing its penchant for partnering to its svelte, minimalist ELEMENTS outdoor kitchen line—a collab with international architect and designer Daniel Germani.
“Durability is at the core” of the Chicago Atheneum Good Design Award-winning concept, says Germani. His leggy, freestanding, furniture-inspired modules evoke a Barbie Dreamhouse sassiness in candy-bright hues with names like Mermaid, Sapphire and Mint. And the frameless, watertight stainless-steel cabinetry is powder-coated inside and out, boasting magnetic seals, gaskets and integrated handles, to give mountain-weather mayhem the cold shoulder while offering set-in-place installation ease.
