See why Boulder County's was recently named the No. 1 farmers' market in the United States
USA Today released the list of the top 10 Farmers Markets in the country on August 21, 2015. The ranking was determined by a panel of food and travel experts narrowing the field to their top 20 and then for four weeks the public voted for their favorites. This raises the question, “What makes a Farmers Market the Best Farmers Market in the country”?
The markets are professionally run and there are rules. The vendors are required to locally grow or make what they sell. The vendors work in harmony with each other and they are very open with the customers, talking about their products and sharing their knowledge. The community is engaged with the market and the market is engaged with the community. Good signage is required including pricing, product names and the name of the producer.
The Boulder County Farmers Market in Boulder County, Colorado, was started in 1987 by a group of local farmers.
