Snowmass Man Cave
Part office, part shed, this cozy building serves many functions
While visiting the Scandi-modern home featured in the J/F 2019 issue of ML, A Norwegian-Inspired Aspen Home, with CCY Architects' Todd Kennedy and Gage Reese, I was struck by the novelty of the husband’s office situated in a separate structure up the hill from the main home.
This “he shed” was part office—an Apple computer perched on the desk and the space warmed by a stove—and part equipment storage, with skis, tools, and other sporting equipment arranged neatly. A barn door at the south end could be opened on a beautiful day, and hay bales were stored inside, ready to be pulled outside for impromptu seating.
The husband loves to chop wood, a nod to his Norwegian roots, so there is built-in storage for the logs outside the office that also serves as a beautiful display.
I’d love to see additional multi-use offices in the mountains. Please send me your pictures!
