Easy Hikes, Powerful Scenery

The minute the snow melts, I like to hit the trails, especially when I’m On Location for Mountain Living. When visiting a mountain market, I always reserve time for a hike to clear my head and breath the fresh, mountain air. Here are a few of my faves.

Lake Tahoe

This lake known for its remarkable color is surrounded by hiking trails. I like to walk along the lake with a view of Emerald Bay. See also: Pedaling Leisure in Lake Tahoe

String Lake

​Grand Teton National Park is a gem, not as crowded as it’s cousin Yellowstone National Park, and hiking opportunities galore. Park at String Lake and you can hike to Leigh Lake, an easy hike with plenty of picnic spots. See also: Off-Season Jackson: An Oxymoron

Maroon Bells

Unless you are camping, the trailhead at Maroon Bells in Aspen is accessed by bus and it can be packed with tourists. But if you hit it on the right day, (not on holidays or weekends) there are several easy hikes available, and the scenery can’t be beat. See also: 10 Insider Tips for Springtime in Aspen
