Chihuly in bloom at the Denver Botanic Gardens

Chances are you’ve heard of American glass artist Dale Chihuly, and maybe even seen his works in a hotel or museum collection. But this summer, you’ll be able to enjoy Chihuly’s works in a wilder setting—at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

The Rocky Mountain region’s first major outdoor exhibition of artwork by Chihuly, the colorful displays (in 12 locations throughout the gardens) will be on view at the 24-acre York Street location June 14 through November 13, 2014.

Yesterday, we had an opportunity to take a sneak peek at the installations, which seem to grow just as naturally from the soil and scenic reflecting pools as the surrounding plants and flowers.

The dramatic sculptures range from shimmering water floats to a 30-foot tower to (our favorite) a row boat filled with giant candy-colored orbs.
