Business and Pleasure in Aspen, Colorado
Delightful design stores, plus a ski getaway
On a recent trip to the Aspen/Snowmass area, I spent the afternoon visiting two of my favorite design stores, first stopping at Cathers Home in Basalt and continuing to the Aspen Design Room in Aspen. Both shops feature luxurious home furnishings as well as complete design services.

With a 3,000-square-foot store and a team of professional ASID interior designers, Cathers Home is a comprehensive interior design resource.

Cathers Home represents Tufenkian Rugs (one of only two dealers located on the Western Slope). These beautiful Tibetan and Armenian rugs are made according to ancient artisan traditions and use standard-setting humanitarian practices.

Cathers Home prides itself on showing the work of Colorado artists and photographers. Currently in the showroom I saw work by Jace Romick from Steamboat Springs and Marc Bennett from Aspen.

Fun fact: In addition to their interior design services, Cathers provides tents for outdoor events; check out the amazing shelters they create for special events.

Fun Fact: The day I was in the store, a giant photo of Hunter S. Thompson by Aspen photographer Alan Becker was holding court in the showroom, but many of the photographs are from Trowbridge Gallery in London.

Of course, a trip to Aspen isn’t complete without ending the day at the Hotel Jerome for a cocktail…

…followed by a gorgeous day of skiing the next day at Snowmass!
