An Artful Evening in Lake Tahoe

A Networking by Design event by SLATE Art at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe

Because Mountain Living’s editorial coverage extends to eight states and British Columbia, I am fortunate to visit beautiful communities throughout the Rocky Mountains. Our Networking by Design events give me the opportunity to meet with architects, designers, builders and learn about the latest news, openings and exhibitions. Last week I was delighted to visit Lake Tahoe and to participate in the Design and Building Professionals Mixer hosted by SLATE Art Consulting at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Lake Tahoe.

SLATE Art curates art exhibitions of Northern California artists in The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe lobby and public areas, rotating the exhibit in summer and winter.

The launch of the latest summer exhibit consists of 23 contemporary works of art including the work of David Ruddell and the ceramic sculpture by Gerald Arrington. In an upcoming blog post, I will give you a virtual tour of the exhibit.

The event at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe was to kick-off the new summer exhibition. Robin Reiners, SLATE’s Director for the Tahoe Area, was on hand to share information about the artists and take us on a private tour of the collection.

In addition, Robin invited Clare Walton of Walton Architecture and Engineering to discuss her project, The Ritz-Carlton Lake House, slated to open this summer.

In a crazy coincidence, a project by Clare and her team at Walton Architects and Engineering is on the cover of the May/June 2017 issue of Mountain Living, which you can see below. (You can see the project at: Shingle Style for the 21st Century).

Jessica Stanley and Allison Yonto, the owners of Tahoe-based Illanta Wines, discussed their small-batch limited-production wines, and all of the guests were happy to sample their products.

The evening played out like a Parisian salon—it was a fantastic event, where we discussed art, architecture, wine and publishing. Thanks to Robin Reiners for organizing it!SaveSave
