The Glamping Tent of Your Dreams

Take glamorous camping to the next level with these pro decorating tips

Warm weather endures these late summer months, inviting you to get outside and enjoy nature before the snow and cold arrives. Camping has long been a favorite high country activity and it’s more than just a sleeping bag on the dirt floor. While sleeping under the stars is a beloved tradition, you can add some frills to your trip and go a bit more glamorous.

For those who enjoy a relaxed but luxurious weekend in the mountains, try “glamping” on for size. You and your friends can enjoy festivities in the forest with fancy tents, glamorous bedding and accessories and even a camp butler. We chatted with Kathleen Medina, founder of Camp’d Out, about all things glamping and tent decoration.

Medina: Camp'd Out is a mobile camping outfitter based in Venice, California, that offers luxury tent accommodations and services. We provide the tools and resources to create your ideal glamping experience, whether it’s a backyard dinner party or a desert retreat. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ACCESSORIES TO ADORN A GLAMPING TENT?

Details, details, details! Our Betsy Tent is where wilderness meets luxury. My favorite accessories within the tent are the unique, local pieces sourced for tents, such as luxurious bedding from Loomstead and beautiful throws by Happy Habitat.

4 TIPS FOR DECORATING A GLAMPING TENT:

  • Go neutral: I take a minimal approach in the tent, sticking to a neutral palette so I can add pops of color, patterns and plants.
  • Start with the rugs: Layer a natural-fiber rug with a more vibrant accent rug that overlays, like sheepskin.
  • Create "tent hangouts": A folding table and lounge chairs will do the trick, and a pouf and floor pillows are fun.
  • Get comfy: My favorite element in the tent is cozy bedding!
