Details Are Everything in this New Washington State Retreat
Resort living achieves a high bar in this beautiful Suncadia dwelling.
A new build in the established Washington resort of Suncadia offers the simplicity of Scandinavian design combined with a dash of European aesthetic. The result is a thoughtfully curated mash-up of the best of both worlds. Suncadia is 90 minutes east of the greater Seattle area where the homeowners’ primary residence is located. The convenience of distance allows the owners to live in each place for approximately six months at a time.
The house features clean, simple shed roof design and construction. A two-story walkout with 4,000 square feet, the space includes four-bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. Suncadia’s two golf courses, ample fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and proximity to skiing provides residents with a full slate of year-round outdoor activities.
Stacy Becker, owner and president of White Label Interiors worked with the owners to create conceptual images of the design vision. “We started with Scandinavian simplicity,” Becker says. “An evolution took place during the design process that gave us a chance to include a French and German aesthetic. This added comfort and warmth to create a truly bespoke finished design.”
Color plays an important role in enhancing the Scandinavian simplicity. Taupe, dark gray, and pops of orange play against light wood flooring and black window trim to create a pleasing look inspiring warmth and welcome. Becker explains that a crucial goal at White Label Interiors is to create balance. A clever combination of materials including worn linen, sleek quartz, and rustic wood lends textural and visual interest to the interior décor. “For example, we combined a metal fireplace and a linen sofa to offer luxury with a rustic note,” she says.
The living area of the residence is sheltered by the natural outdoor landscape ensuring complete privacy. Open windows in the main living space let in the abundance of natural light during daylight hours. Custom shades and drapes provide privacy and serenity to the bedrooms and bathrooms. Primary and guest bedrooms, and bunk style sleeping maximizes space to accommodate visitors. “The two teen daughters love having friends over,” says Becker.
“Relatives often visit from Europe making the resort property an ideal place to host.” “It was a wonderful challenge to instill personal preference and personality into this home’s design,” says Becker. “The property is a great example of a new spin on luxury destination and resort living.”
