What is the key to creating designs that are both aesthetically inspiring and functionally practical?

In our practice, function always wins over form. Interior spaces must work efficiently in order to be habitable, but we balance that out by looking for distinctive aesthetic opportunities because those are what pique our interest as humans and connect us emotionally to our interior environment.

What is your favorite type of project to work on? Do you have any recent examples?

We like to maintain aspects of natural texture and materials in our projects to ensure an element of timelessness and taste. Working in a natural environment, such as Tahoe, we tend to lean on nature to drive the project and find areas where we can pepper in our clients’ personalities and tastes.

How does your design process help bring clients’ goals to life?

In designing our projects, we use the phases of design to structure the process. We like to think of our design process as a funnel: we start with broad strokes for the conceptual design, and in collaborating with our clients, the concepts become a defined vision – one that our clients are confident in and one that needs no interpretation in the field because we’ve done all the production on the backend to ensure the vision is realized.

Your firm emphasizes healthy and responsible interiors. Can you tell us more about that?

We believe that interiors have the power to enrich daily lives. Our mission is to create spaces that are visually stunning, functional, and promote a high quality of life. That’s why we prioritize high-quality, durable natural materials. These materials are not only better for indoor air quality and human health, but they also offer a wonderful visceral and tactile experience.

In addition, we source mindfully from across the globe to create truly personalized interiors designed for longevity. This means that we research and prioritize companies that champion quality craftsmanship, resource efficiency, and fair treatment of their makers.

How does your team simplify the often-complex design process for homeowners?

When a client engages us early in the design process, it means their home can be truly responsive to all aspects of their life, from logistical considerations to more ephemeral concepts such as what brings them joy and inspiration. We find that these early conversations with clients are some of the most important — it’s that rapport that allows us to craft interiors tailored to individuals. Collaborating closely with the build team, we handle the day-to-day complexities of translating design into reality while always keeping the client’s ultimate vision at the forefront of our minds.

With a grand opening in December 2024, our luxury furniture showroom spans 2,500 square feet and showcases pieces from over 150 of our favorite vendors.
