Discerning buyers—many seeking second or third residences—are fueling strong demand for custom homes that offer exceptional craftsmanship, tailored design and cutting-edge technology. Beyond the homes themselves, Utah’s appeal lies in its thriving economy, vibrant cultural scene and extraordinary natural beauty. With 10 world-class ski resorts less than an hour from Salt Lake City International Airport and unmatched access to outdoor adventure, Utah offers a lifestyle as elevated as the homes being built.
Here, we introduce you to the industry professionals that are making it happen. From architects, interior designers, builders and landscape architects who conceive and deliver exquisite homes to the artisans and art professionals who add the finishing touches to real estate professionals that broker the deals—their exceptional, innovative work stands out.
Cutting-Edge Luxury
For over two decades, GO WEST DEVELOPMENT has specialized in building exceptional homes using building science methodologies that ensure longevity and a healthy environment for their clients. Here, they share the details of their latest project.
What signature details distinguish this home as a true luxury retreat?
This Berg Design home was created as a luxury retreat. Carefully positioned toward the lake, the natural hillside screens neighboring residences, providing privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains and water. Expansive windows, natural materials that flow from interior to exterior, glass railings and custom lighting all enhance the indoor/outdoor experience.
What sets the Go West Development client experience apart from other luxury builders?
For over 23 years, we’ve been crafting the finest homes in Park City, with deep expertise in working seamlessly with remote clients. Our software-driven process allows owners to stay informed on their selections, budget and schedule—anytime, from anywhere. In fact, a recent project for a family based outside the country was completed without a single site visit. Yet on move-in day, they were thrilled—thanks to daily photo updates and real-time online collaboration.
In addition to transparency and precision, we also stay current with advancements in building science, incorporating features like advanced insulation, fresh air systems and year-round smart-home comfort. These real-world essentials complement the custom details that define our work—from steel-and-glass enclosures to hand-crafted cabinetry and Venetian plaster walls.

Experience + Vision
Meet Curtis Atkinson, founder and CEO of SUNLINE LANDSCAPES. For over two decades, he and his deeply knowledgeable team have been crafting unique and inspiring outdoor spaces that connect people with each other in nature across the Salt Lake Valley.
In your company’s 24 years of experience, how would you say landscape design has evolved?
Landscape design has gone from merely designing beautiful yards to creating meaningful, livable outdoor spaces. As we learned during the pandemic, the mental health benefits of being in nature and in a space that feels both beautiful and intentional are indisputable. Today, we’re creating spaces that offer a feeling of retreat—places to unwind, recharge, and disconnect from the world. Designing outdoor living areas as vital extensions of the home has become just as important as designing interiors.
How does the unique philosophy and culture of your firm translate to excellent designs?
At the heart of our philosophy is a passion for creating environments that inspire and bring people together. Design is the foundation of everything we do—with purpose, vision, and intention. Our exceptional team approaches each project with creativity and collaboration, ensuring every space is thoughtfully laid out, structurally sound, and horticulturally appropriate. The result is a design that functions beautifully, feels cohesive, and enhances the way people live.
What sets Sunline Landscape client experience apart from the competition?
Our client experience begins with a thoughtful consultation where we listen closely to understand how each client envisions using their outdoor space. From there, we collaborate to shape a creative, personalized design that reflects their wish list and lifestyle needs. The process is detailed, engaging, and rooted in open communication. We believe involving a landscape architect from the very beginning is essential—it ensures the outdoor environment is an integral part of the overall planning process and results in a seamless, well-executed design that feels intentional and inspiring.

Unrivaled Craftsmanship
The experienced team at VIOTELL METAL CONCEPTS embraces custom metal fabrication and installation with an elevated combination of skill and artistic flair. Read on to learn what fuels their fire.
How would you describe your approach to metalwork in Utah’s luxury mountain home market?
At Viotell, we view metalwork as both functional and artistic. It’s like a tailored suit for the home: custom-fitted, refined in every detail, and designed both to protect and express character. We combine craftsmanship with modern detailing to ensure we can build an exterior that endures Utah’s extreme weather conditions. Every seam, transition, and termination needs to be intentional—our execution on these details matters. We’re able to integrate all the required performance metrics without compromising the design.
How does collaboration with industry partners and clients influence your ability to turn bold design concepts into reality with precision and excellence?
Collaboration is key to turning bold concepts into reality. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with architects, GCs, and homeowners from the earliest phases. Our role is to translate vision into execution with clarity, solving complexity before it reaches the field. Whether it’s refining a challenging detail or offering insight into material performance, we are true partners; technical, communicative, and invested in the outcome. For us, great work means beautiful results that stand the test of time and reflect the shared commitment of every hand involved.

Passion for Excellence
With decades of experience and deep roots in custom home building, CAMEO HOMES is a second-generation, family-owned company led by three brothers devoted to exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Here, they share the scoop on their outstanding “Mountaintop Luxury” project.
What was the overall vision for this luxury mountain retreat?
The owners envisioned a Mountain Transitional home that blends timeless exterior elements with a warm, refined interior. Inside, the design leans clean and modern, elevated by ultra-detailed finishes and rich, organic materials. Stacked stone, warm wood accents, and a harmonious neutral palette of whites, creams, and soft browns create a sense of calm continuity from room to room.
Tell us about the home’s “wow” moment.
The owners’ foremost priority was creating a dramatic first impression—stepping through the front door to breathtaking views of the Deer Valley ski slopes and the lake below, perfectly framed through the great room’s expansive windows. Despite the site’s complex topography, Cameo achieved this vision with soaring glass walls that seamlessly connect the home to its stunning surroundings.
In a burgeoning market of luxury home builders, why choose Cameo Homes?
For nearly 50 years, Cameo Homes has been building extraordinary custom homes. Since 1976, our legacy of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity has earned the trust of discerning clients—and continues to set
us apart.

Beautiful Balance
Just minutes from world-class skiing in Park City, Utah, the Canyon Gate home is nestled into a scrub oak-covered hillside within the mountain golf community of Promontory. Principal interior designer Kimberly Parker of KIMBERLY PARKER DESIGN shares her insight into the project.
What was the most influential factor contributing to the home’s architecture?
A defining move was rethinking the home’s orientation to take full advantage of its setting. With the best views at the front of the home, the architects strategically placed the entrance on the side. This allowed for expansive outdoor living spaces to run across the entire front on both levels. Massive multi-slider glass doors in the great room and on both sides of the dining room open the home completely to the views, creating a seamless flow from front to back.
Which elements were most transformative in bringing the interior design to life?
Embracing the client’s unique blend of traditional East Coast style and a taste for the quirky and avant-garde, we introduced timeless color through custom cabinetry, richly saturated rugs, vibrant pillows, and bold-patterned wallpapers from Gucci and Schumacher.
Balancing refined and rustic was key. Classic lighting forms, paired with plain-sawn white oak cabinetry and barnwood walls, bridge the client’s two worlds. In the lower-level rec room, a denim sectional situated beneath rustic coffered beams creates a playful energy. The design captures the spirit of mountain living while staying true to the client’s colorful, eclectic taste.

Exclusivity Meets Expertise
The team at BIG CANYON HOMES—a multi-generational family-owned firm with over 30 years of experience—leads the industry in sustainable luxury living. Using a holistic approach, they craft legacy homes that harmonize with nature and reflect the unique essence of each of their clients.
Building in Utah’s most exclusive communities is no small feat. What’s been the key to earning that opportunity?
It’s a privilege to build in these remarkable luxury communities; we don’t take it for granted. In places like this, opportunity comes from trust earned by bringing the right team and consistently delivering excellence. Proven processes matter, as do long-term relationships with trades, vendors and clients who know the standards won’t slip.
Luxury homes come in many architectural languages. How do you approach such a wide range of styles while maintaining a consistent standard?
Every project is unique, but the discipline behind it isn’t. We approach each home with a clear process, honed over years of practice. It comes down to attention to detail, a deep knowledge of building science and materials and a commitment to staying current in an industry that never stops evolving. That’s how we balance individuality with unwavering standards.
What do you think truly defines a great custom home builder today?
A great builder brings clarity and calm to a complex process. They listen, lead with confidence, protect the design intent, and deliver on time and on budget. It’s not just about building—it’s about turning visions into realities without compromise. That takes structure, experience and a team that is fully invested.

Environmentally Responsive Architecture
Meet Warren Lloyd, founding partner of LLOYD ARCHITECTS—a firm dedicated to design excellence across Utah. Here, he reflects on 25 years of practice and one of their most memorable and iconic projects: Sundance Cabin.
What was the homeowners’ vision for this standout mountain retreat?
The co-owners envisioned a legacy retreat—an enduring place where their children and grandchildren could grow up immersed in the mountains’ beauty across all seasons. Shared by two families, the cabin includes two primary suites with accommodations for 20 people. At its heart, the spacious kitchen and living areas—framed by soaring floor-to-ceiling windows—foster connection, memory-making, and a deep bond with the natural surroundings.
What was the most influential consideration in your design of Sundance Cabin?
Our design process is deeply informed by the vernacular architecture of mountain regions—structures shaped by necessity and climate. The Sundance Cabin reflects this through its simple gabled form and extended rooflines, inspired by traditional woodsheds found in snowy terrain. These deep overhangs protect entries and walkways from snow accumulation while honoring the quiet elegance of mountain building traditions.
As your business evolves alongside Utah’s phenomenal growth, what core principles guide your commitment to excellence?
We feel a growing responsibility to design with intention and resilience. This means integrating fire-resistant materials, energy-efficient systems and durable building envelopes to reduce long-term environmental impact. Creating timeless designs that honor the land in Utah means blending architecture with the natural beauty of the mountains and deserts, ensuring sustainability while preserving the region’s rich heritage.

Bold Design
Join our conversation with Allison Campbell, the spirited creative at the helm of ALLISON CAMPBELL DESIGN, as she discusses her spectacular collaboration with renowned architect Michael Upwall—The Piano Home.
What interior design principles guide you in creating interiors that harmonize with a home’s environment?
We begin by studying the surroundings—how the light moves, the views, and the landscape itself. Anytime we can echo the outside within the home, it creates a sense of connection. We often achieve this through texture and organic finishes: warm stains, mixed metals, textured fabrics and soft, clean lines. Together, these finishes result in a balanced composition.
How did the distinctive geometry of the home influence your vision for the interior spaces?
The dramatic curved rooflines and floor-to-ceiling angled windows gave us the freedom to think big with finishes and scale. We extended the tongue-and-groove soffit from the exterior through to the interior ceiling, creating a continuous visual rhythm. The bold fireplace surround—clad in hot-rolled steel and stone—echoes the home’s sweeping curves and sharp angles.
How much did collaboration with the architect contribute to the success of this project?
Early collaboration is key—every perspective adds value, ensuring the best outcome for the client. Because we were involved from the start, we were able to influence furniture layouts and functional flow, which had a significant impact on the overall design. That early integration made the end result more cohesive and thoughtful.

Art Extravaganza
Mark your calendar for the inaugural SALT LAKE ART SHOW scheduled for May 14-17, 2026. Evolving from the wildly successful Reno Tahoe International Art Show and operating under the mountain-based brand Peaks Art Fairs, the show is a must-see experience.
How will this show offer a unique experience compared to other regional and national art fairs?
Peaks Art Fairs is unique in its mission to offer an inclusive, welcoming fine art experience where the presentation is world class and exhibitors include national and international galleries, independent artists, sculptors of all mediums and scale, bespoke furniture makers and regional talents.
Beyond a beautiful event, we strive for impact with unique cultural and Indigenous exhibitions, support for local charities, and a robust showcase of regional universities, museums and art organizations. Ongoing live music and local dance and theater performances keep the energy high.
What enticed you to expand into the Salt Lake market?
Now entering its fourth edition September 11-14, the RTIA Show is the fastest growing fine art show and largest indoor sculptural event in the country. Having produced a successful model in a developing market, we are taking the concept and expanding on it for Salt Lake City, the most affluent market in the Western U.S.
We have long admired the region’s deep-rooted interest and investment in the arts. While our personal histories are etched along both coasts, the Mountain West now has our full attention. Fair passes are always complimentary for interior designers, architects, and art consultants—see you next May!
