Kitchen Islands on the Go
Open-concept kitchens are the standard of luxury kitchen design, and we don't see that changing any time this century. While massive, fixed kitchen islands are often a staple, the flexibility of a freestanding and moveable prep station is something worth considering if your kitchen space allows.
According to Elle H-Millard, CKD, the National Kitchen and Bath Association's Industry Relations Manager, kitchen island prep stations were a huge trend in 2017 and are continuing to gain momentum well into 2018.
"Dual functionality in islands and prep stations is changing the footprint in the traditional kitchen layout, serving as a transformational space to accomplish more than one task," says H-Millard. "Mobility in islands also gives flexibility to create a new space visually."
