An itch to get out of the hustle and tech bustle of Silicon Valley could be the inspiration for Mark Zuckerberg's purchase of two mansions on Lake Tahoe. The founder of Facebook spent a pretty penny, $59 million to be exact, on his recent real estate buy in Northern California.

The compound totals around 10 acres with multiple piers to house a number of boats. There are 15 bedrooms and 15.5 baths across the mega-estate. According to Variety, the compound is on the western shore in Tahoe City, and it "spans nearly 10 acres in all, with a whopping 600 feet of uninterrupted lake frontage."

The smaller home, called Carousel Estate, is a charming 1930's Tudor-style home. The other mansion, called Brushwood Estate, was built in the '60s and has two adjoining guest houses.
