4 outdoor dining tables

For gatherings of two couples or the quintessential family of four, a square dining table is just the ticket for outdoor meals. Designers are creating options in both standard and bar heights and in every material imaginable, from wood and steel to stone, glass and aluminum, often mixing materials in a single design.

For mountain settings, you’ll want to make sure your choice is heavy enough to stand up to the elements, as these sturdy designs demonstrate.

Gloster’s Carver table by Danish designer Henrik Pedersen has a marble-look ceramic top and powder-coated aluminum frame. The top also comes in black or white ceramic as well as teak. The table is 35 inches square and weighs 82 pounds, $6,900. Retail locations at gloster.com; to the trade at whitneyevansltd.com

Inspired by nature, the open-weave Yin & Yang table from Kenneth Cobonpue has a base of polyethylene and steel measuring 29½ inches square. The glass pencil-edge top is 48 inches square, $2,895. An indoor version is available in rattan and steel, $2,540. Retail stores at kennethcobonpue.com; to the trade at hoffmiller.com.

Kannoa’s fiber-reinforced cement 43-inch square Urban dining table works indoors or out. The addition of color pigments and waterproofing helps it stand up to the elements. Weighing 240 pounds, it retails for $1,500 at Creative Living Interior & Exterior Decor in Denver, CO; additional locations at kannoa.com.

Mixed materials make the Arte dining table from Johnston Casuals stand out from the pack. The design has a metal base (here in a topaz finish), $1,305; and midnight oak wood top that is 42 inches square and two inches thick, $1,350. Retail stores at johnstoncasuals.com; to the trade at hoffmiller.com
