Montana
The Big Sky country lives up to its romantic hype with incredible scenery, real dude ranches, and glorious national parks. Its northwest corner is home to the Flathead Valley, Glacier National Park (drive the width of the park on the spectacular Going-to-the-Sun Road), and the charming and family-friendly Big Mountain Resort, just outside of Whitefish. Head south across acres of unspoiled land (Montana has more than 900,000 acres of wildlife refuges) and you’ll find Bozeman and the resort town of Big Sky.
Gallatin County (which includes Bozeman and Big Sky) has seen what many realtors consider a normal slowing of the market after the hectic pace of the last few years. Tricia Bailey, President of the Gallatin Association of Realtors, describes the adjustment as getting back to “business as usual” and says that the first quarter of 2007 has been strong. In Big Sky, inventory has grown but median prices continue to climb.
