Homes, Sweet Homes
Multi-million-dollar high-country homes can be yours for a stay, thanks to a smart new way to own
Leasing a vacation home can be an appealing option for travelers looking for a more “local” experience and room to spread out, but the process of finding a good rental can be fraught with risk. Property descriptions and photos can be misleading, assessing the surrounding neighborhood is challenging, and researching a destination’s attractions takes time.
Denver-based destination club Quintess offers a solution. Its members enjoy access to more than 80 luxury vacation homes worldwide, each one selected for its location, amenities and style. “The homes in our portfolio are ideally located in resort destinations, average 4,000 to 5,000 square feet, have at least four bedrooms, and are appointed with wonderful amenities,” says Quintess president Greg Eure.
Along with access to spectacular homes in prime locations—including mountain resort towns of Aspen, Vail, Telluride, Jackson Hole, Deer Valley and Lake Tahoe—Quintess members enjoy the services of a dedicated member-relations manager who gets to know their travel preferences, then makes sure to accommodate them. An on-site host at each house helps members plan their experience and schedule activities.
Foregoing a restrictive one-size-fits-all approach, Quintess offers six different levels of membership with varying numbers of available nights and booking privileges; members can also trade dates and holidays. “What we offer are highly personalized, extraordinary, effortless travel experiences for our members,” Eure says. quintess.com
Elegant Escape The Lion’s Den in Vail, Colorado (pictured in gallery below), is a spacious home with luxurious amenities that are typical of the vacation properties in Quintess’s portfolio. Located just minutes from the ski area, the four-bedroom home has 4,000 square feet of living space including a large gourmet kitchen, a grand living room with stunning views, a master bedroom with private patio and a lower-level media room.
“During the winter, Lion’s Den feels like a cozy ski home; you can walk 300 yards and board the Eagle Bahn Gondola,” says Quintess president Greg Eure. “In the summertime, the living room’s sliding-glass doors open onto an enormous deck; if you wanted to, you could cast a fly rod off the deck into Gore Creek.”
