Glamping, short for glamorous camping, is the new luxe way to camp for those who want to enjoy the outdoors but without the bugs and leaky tents. And it sure is nice to have a camp butler to build the fire and a chef to grill up some bison ribeye for dinner. Some outfitters offer tents with Persian carpets, down duvets and even the electricity to power your hairdryer.

Moonlight on the Madison, right on Montana's Madison River, is perfect for those who want their glamping to be a little more rustic but very comfortable too. Dinner (yummy stuff like smoked-trout appetizer, grilled bison tenderloin and Dutch-oven strawberry-rhubarb cobbler) is prepared in the cook tent and served on tables along the river. At the ultra-luxe Paws Up Resort, you can enjoy everything from butler-built campfires and s'mores to an outdoor movie screen. The tents are home to featherbeds, masseuses, and electricity—perfect for unwinding in after a day of fly-fishing, horseback riding and exploring Montana's unspoiled wilderness. Inspired by Great Camps of the late 19th century, an enclave of Clayoquot Wilderness Resort's deluxe white-canvas tents (plus dining tents and spa tents) offers guests a taste of how the fortunate spent their summers "rusticating" some 100 years ago--indulgent luxury in a remote wilderness. Rockwater Secret Cove Resort, on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, offers a romantic escape high in the treetops with its tenthouse suites. Each luxe tent has a king bed covered with high-thread-count sheets, a hydro-tub, propane fireplace and private veranda with great views of the Malaspina Strait. Enjoy an outdoor massage on your veranda or on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Halfmoon Bay, BC, (877) 296-4593, rockwatersecretcoveresort.com
