Tastefully Done
In the kitchen, a comfy country façade belies the high-tech and luxe touches found at every turn. The room is anchored by a dual-level curved soapstone countertop that provides seating, eating and work space; the weathered leather bar stools are by New Classics from the Shanahan Collection. A three-light pendant with English influence illuminates the room, augmented by recessed and undercounter task lighting. Wedgewood cabinets in two different finishes: light pine and darker knotty fir--distressed to look like well-worn furniture--have fine detailing like crown molding and carved counter supports. Outfitted with a Wolf dual-fuel range and hood, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and an Asko dishwasher, the efficient workspace also includes splurges like a Rohl pot filler faucet, a warming drawer, and a Runco plasma television.

Design Details
1. A Wolf dual-fuel range and double oven utilizes the optimum fuel for each cooking operation: gas for stovetop cooking and electric heat for even baking. For perfect pancakes, a built-in griddle maintains a constant cooking temperature. A Rohl pot filler faucet is located over the stove, eliminating the need to carry heavy pots across the kitchen.
2. The open butler's pantry is outfitted with a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator, a second Asko dishwasher and plenty of built-in storage space; a window in the pantry opens to the kitchen so items can easily slide in and out. Custom cabinetry crafted from distressed pine is from Kitchens by Wedgewood (303-645-5551).
3. A classic white ceramic Shaw's Original apron sink (rohlhome.com) has a deep, single bowl and is designed to withstand heavy use. The sink is undermounted and inset in soapstone countertops accented with marble insets. Soapstone is an increasingly popular choice for traditionally-styled kitchens and, unlike granite, needs only an occasional wipe down with mineral oil to maintain it. The gleaming traditional faucet is from Rohl.
4. "The long living area is flanked by French doors on either side, which posed a challenge for creating intimate seating areas," says Quint. Her solution? An unusual back-to-back custom sofa from the Shanahan Collection (303-778-7088) provides seating on both sides. Draperies in traditional paisley from Old World Weavers provided "our jumping off point," Quint says, influencing the room's red and French blue accents.
