Picnics are magical in the wintertime. Perhaps it’s because they’re so unexpected, or perhaps it’s simply the swirling snowflakes and crisp mountain air, but whatever the reason, we think they can be even more fun than those lazy summer ones, especially when they’re planned around your favorite winter activity. So the next time you hit the slopes, strap on your snowshoes or head out to your favorite sledding hill, bring along a few of our favorite winter-picnic treats—they’re easy to make, perfectly packable and, best of all, warm enough to steel you against even the chilliest winter weather. After all, enjoying the high country’s great outdoors shouldn’t preclude a thoughtful—and delicious—meal.
