The stark beauty of the Arizona landscape has always drawn “snowbirds” looking for an escape from northern winters, but in recent years, areas like Phoenix and Scottsdale have seen unprecedented growth as people choose to make the area their permanent home. Phoenix continues to welcome new residents with several new private communities, several of which include membership to championship golf courses. A growing number of high-end resort hotels, luxury spas and casinos add to the appeal of the area for affluent travelers.

About 100 miles north of Phoenix is Sedona, the resort community that boasts dramatic red-rock formations, Oak Creek Canyon and the Coconino National Forest. Upscale spas and resorts host up to four million tourists a year and the luxury second-home real estate market remains strong, although not at the frenetic pace of the past few years. Inventory is up considerably, making it a strong buyer’s market. The mountain town of Flagstaff is experiencing a solid market with single-family home values rising almost 15 percent in the past year.
